North Star Family Services (formerly known as Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network) is a family shelter located in Leominster, Massachusetts. North Shore Family Services provides not just shelter, but meals and comprehensive assistance to local homeless families with children.
North Star Family Services engages churches in offering direct services to assist families.
In this ministry, Saint Boniface volunteers at North Shore Family Services every 8-10 weeks, providing meals and weekly supplies for five homeless families.
Prepare & Deliver a Meal
During our week’s commitment, a Saint Boniface parishioner agrees to provide a "dinner meal” for the shelter for one night of the week from Sunday to Friday. The shelter families rely on the dinner meal to arrive, prepared and hot at 5:30pm every evening. The meal volunteer purchases the ingredients and cooks the meal at their home, church, or other location and delivers it to the shelter. Oftentimes, salads and dessert is provided for the families, in addition to the main dish.
Donate Food and Household Items
During our week’s commitment, the North Star Family Services shelter accepts donations of food to help families and to keep costs at the shelter manageable. Household supplies, breakfast cereals, lunch provisions, fruit, juice and additional supplies are gathered by the host church. Saint Boniface places tags at the front of the Church 2-3 weeks prior to our assigned week so they can be brought to North Star Family Services the Sunday that our commitment begins.
Please, look for these tags in our Church and purchase the items on the tag that you have selected. Bring and place those items near the Holy Bible which is located on the right side of the church.
Your donations are greatly appreciated!
