Interfaith Hospitality

a CONGREGATION OF FAITH

In this ministry, volunteers act as hosts to families who experience temporary homelessness. This organization is nondenominational with a number of churches participating in the area. Families are temporarily housed in a former convent in Leominster.

Volunteers act much like innkeepers. The families care for themselves and are out during the day. On weekdays, the volunteers/hosts work in shifts from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. These volunteers also bring and serve the evening meal. The overnight shift is from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Volunteers sleep at the facility and have their own bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. On weekends, the volunteers take shifts to be with the families throughout the day and evening. Meals are needed throughout the weekend for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Interfaith Hospitality is an appropriate organization for families to serve as volunteers, particularly on the weekends.

Currently volunteers from St. Boniface provide backup when volunteers from other churches are unable to be hosts at their scheduled time.
